There are lots of news in Madonna di Campiglio this year. This is one of my favourite ski areas, having been there when my kids where pretty young. Scenery is fantastic wherever you look at – the Dolomites for me are the nicest mountains I’ve seen in my life!
This season the Nube d’Oro 2-seat fixed grip chairlift will be replaced for a new 6 seater with hourly capacity of 2800 people per hour. The lift departure will move 300 m down the slope and will be on the northern edge below Malga Montagnoli on the Nube d’Argento ski run.

This new lift will be available from the blue ski run Nube d’Argento-Genderme. The Nube d’Argento and Nube d’Argento-Gendarme runs will be enlarged and snowmaking will be upgraded. A new run, the Montagnoli will be created. And behind the Malga Montagnoli there will be a new stretch of ski run of 300 m long and a vertical drop of 40 meters, with a gradient of 13%.
The second part of the programmed works will be with the Pista Amazzonia Alta – the area up to the Bsa dei Mughi. The snow system will also be replaced.
In Pinzolo a new water basin will be developed in the Grual area, at Doss del Sabion (1900 m)
Pinzolo:
Technical data
Capacity: 93.000 cubic meters
Surface: 14.000 m2
Depth max: 12 meters
This new Grual lake will complete the ‘programmed snow system’ of the Pinzolo Lifts Company. This together with the Montagnoli lake created by Madonna di Campiglio Lifts Company in 2016, this new lake will guarantee great snowmaking and a skiing experience in the whole Skiarea Campiglio.

My preferred places where to stay if going to the Skiarea Campiglio

Book the Hotel Bertelli in Madonna di Campiglio.

Where to eat on the mountain:
Rifugio 5 Laghi: On top of the Laghi Express, on the 5 Laghi area of Madonna di Campiglio, this restaurant has amazing views and a lovely terrace. I’ve seen more people just staying there all morning sunbathing and not skiing too much- it is the place where to see and be seen.

Visit Rifugio 5 Lagui’s Facebook Page.
Chalet Fiat: Eat at 2,100 meters with panoramic views. Having a la carte menu restaurant, a self service, a grill and a bar, you can stay there as much or as little as you want, always having had some great food and drinks before continuing your skiing day!

Visit the Chalet Fiat page.
A pizzeria and restaurant with a lodge offering slope-side accommodation by Grosté with an outside hot tub and sauna..

Stay at the Rifugio Stoppani
Where to eat in town:
Il Gallo Cedrone at the Hotel Bertelli, a Michelin star restaurant.
Restaurante Le Roi, located in Via Cima Rosa, 40. A lovely family restaurant, always full, good food and great prices.
Al Sottobosco Steak House Churrascaria, if you love meat, this is the place to go.

If you love chocolate, visit the Casa del Cioccolato in Piazza Righi.
