Mike Pierson, former owner of Mountain Travel Symposium and Executive Director of the event until his retirement.
It has been my pleasure and privilege to know and work with Martina since 2013.
I was the owner of Mountain Travel Symposium (MTS) the largest and longest running travel trade conference serving the mountain destination tourism industry. At the time of our introduction, MTS was primarily focused on US/Canadian resort tourism, with a bit of international resorts and wholesaler’s also attending. In 2013 we decided to make MTS a worldwide conference serving the entire mountain destination tourism destination tourism industry. Martina was our “point person” in our international strategy.
It has now been 11+ years since Martina was hired to manage the international sales component of MTS, both from the supplier and the wholesaler perspectives. The results speak for themselves:
– 2013: (pre Martina, our “base year”) MTS international attendance was well under 100.
And, international attendees made up less than 10% of our total attendance.
– 11 year international participation (impact) highlights:
– Total international attendees:
– more than a 300% increase, currently more than 20% of annual total MTS attendees
– International revenue:
– 2013, not significant. Currently, a significant component of overall revenue
– Sponsorship revenue:
– 2013, not significant. Currently a significant component to sponsorship revenue
MTS is now almost 50 years old. It is the must attend conference for the worldwide mountain destination tourism industry. Martina’s contribution has been significant. In the performance of her duties, I would highlight her:
– dedication with a superior work ethic
– command of, and long time relationships within, all sectors of the industry
– love of, and belief in, the product she represents
– sales abilities, follow up and sheer determination that consistently drive superior results

Gina Kroft
Former PR, International Sales and Special Events Director- Crested Butte Mountain Resort (CBMR)
I have had the pleasure of knowing Martina for the past 30+ years. I worked with her directly for five years (1990-1995), during my tenure at Crested Butte Mountain Resort, (CBMR), where I worked from 1987 through 2008. Crested Butte is a ski area in Colorado.
I was first hired to be the Marketing Assistant to John Norton, followed by 16 years as the Public Relations, International Sales and Special Events Director and finishing my career as the Vice President of Marketing and Sales. I stayed on as a consultant/ contractor to acquire resort sponsorships for the final year.
Martina was an integral part of the PR, press guide, sales and marketing and special events team. She assisted me in all aspects of our special events including both the US Extreme FREESKING AND SNOWBOARDING Championships.
She could so easily pull disparate groups of people together to focus on “getting the job done” and adjusting to whatever challenge, problem, weather issue, personality issue or technical difficulty that would so often come up. This type of work is very tense and fast paced and requires a calm person that can think quickly and adjust to what needs to be done next without a lot of drama.
She handled these situations for me like a star. Martina eventually went onto own and operate her own extreme skiing events in both Europe and South America.

CBMR had many special events, including high-profile celebrity ski, music and media events, which required tedious and precise coordination. Martina was involved with all of them and helped to always ensure their successful outcome.
Martina was especially good at hosting the many VIP’s, media and journalists that came to Crested Butte. She would be patient and kind with beginners and “go for it” with the advanced skiers, showing them everywhere possible over our vast extreme limits terrain, but always with safety as her number one priority. She was always willing to give her groups some ski pointers and I was always impressed with her ease and clarity as a teacher.
Martina is quite a tenacious person, which is why she also excels as an athlete and very talented artist. She is an extraordinary wife and mother and juggles her full-time career and her art work seemingly with ease. I’ve never heard her complain! And I must say, she is a beautiful skier.
She always had a positive attitude and great sense of humor, even during hectic times, which are frequent in the ski business!
Martina was quite young when she worked for me but was wise beyond her years, very organized, made good decisions and was confident in her work. Group leaders and conference and meeting planners and staff all loved working with her and appreciated her efforts.

Martina’s character skills are outstanding. Her friendly desire to help guests and fellow associates, her professionalism, honesty, and integrity were an example to all of us.
Needless to say her bilingual skills certainly helped with our Spanish speaking guests, press and VIPs.
You would be hard pressed to find a more effective, conscientious or enthusiastic individual to be on your team as an expert consultant.
I hope you consider Martina for her consulting services

I assure you that you will not be disappointed if you give her the opportunity to work with you.
When I would have a special marketing project for Martina she would listen to our vision for the task we wanted performed and come back with several options, all consistent with CBMR’s brand position. She excels at ensuring cohesive and consistent brand awareness for your company and/or resort.
Her professionalism, communication skills, sales and deal sense are outstanding. She has excellent marketing and sales skills and unique ideas to solve problems and challenges that come up. I was always impressed with her creative and “out of the box” thinking.
